First, turn the music up loud! (this is usually the first step for most activities)
Download photos from camera.
Piss yourself laughing at some of them! For example:
Wednesday night, getting ready for derby training…
the conversation goes something like this…
me: I don’t think I have any photos of myself in my derby gear, maybe you should take one for me
me: what on earth are you doing
R: taking photos
me: ok, I don’t think this is quite what I had in mind, but I guess it’ll do
… a few more photos later…
me: ok, there is no way some of these are ever going to see the light of day!
(the ones that won’t be uploaded include gems like me sneezing, me telling R she’s insane, etc etc) moral of the story – your teenager often has an interesting perspective on things!
Post a few other pics on Facebook
Look for your folder of music (songs, chords etc)
Fail to locate said folder due to house being in a complete state of chaos.
Decide to see what Google can find and print more
Chat to a friend for half an hour
Get sidetracked again by Facebook…
and then decide to write on the blog about it!
Hmm, got a bit over half an hour left, might trim my fingernails and tune that guitar!
Oh, and the difference between this and a ‘normal’ day is not feeling guilty about all the things you should have been doing instead!
But what an awesome weekend!
2 whole days of roller derby fun, the SSRG Beer Squad, the Sun State Roller Girls in the Grand Final of the first ever Australia/New Zealand derby competition… seriously cool!
Sadly I was having way too much of a good time to get any better photos of the action! But there’s heaps around on Facebook!
Not a good excuse for not having anything much to say, but it was a shorter month than usual! Plus busy with school going back, work, derby, all the usual stuff! All 4 kids are at school this year, which is very exciting (and a little scary if you want me to be honest! Where did my baby go?!)
In case you’re wondering about the photo on the right, M had to do a poster as part of his homework, ‘selling’ himself as an awesome news reporter… what do you reckon, does he fit the image??
Only 24hrs until the Cloth Nappy Hunt starts up again. One of these days I’m going to be prepared in advance, honest! Although I’m doing better than usual so far, most of my images are edited, and I know exactly what I need to do… Might get some sleep tomorrow night afterall!
Derby theme this time round for my site (what, no one’s surprised about that??!)
If I’ve spoken to you any time in the last 5 months or so, you would have to know that I started training to play roller derby last year. Let’s face it, I don’t talk about much else most of the time!
We (Sun State Roller Girls) have had a break from training over Christmas/New Year, but we’re back at training now (as of Wednesday night). And OMG, how unfit am I after the break?? Let’s put it this way, I think every muscle in my body hurts!
Despite putting my life on the line over the break skating outdoors (hills, oh how I hate hills!) which resulted in awesome injuries like massive bruises, and this brilliant example of concrete burn, I have definitely lost a lot of the fitness from last year! Oh well, hopefully it won’t take as long to get back into the swing of things as it did when I first started.
It’s good to be back though, I really missed it over the break. Not just the exercise part, but the opportunity to get out and socialise with other people, and to have a conversation with someone who doesn’t call me Mum! (yes, school holidays are driving me a little insane!)
